E-Commerce Multi-Agent Environment
Agent technology is often claimed to be the silver bullet for the task of automating e-commerce business processes, to bring efficiency and profitability to businesses and individual users. Moreover, recent advances in software engineering, business process management and computational intelligence resulted in methods and techniques for developing advanced e-commerce applications as well as supporting automating e-commerce business processes. Despite this fact, up to now, the most successful e-commerce systems are still being based on humans to make the most important decisions in various activities along the lifecycle of an e-business transaction. Therefore, we have set up a goal of developing, implementing and experimenting with a large scale agent-based e-commerce system. At this stage our focus is on creating a system with a multitude of agents that play variety of roles and interact with each-other - system skeleton. Furthermore, we proceed beyond what is typically considered for e-commerce agents, the act of negotiation itself. We conceptualize the negotiation as a part of a complete e-commerce scenario consisting of: matchmaking, negotiating and purchasing.
